Focus the smart way.PuzzleBlocker is a browser extension that helps you spend less time procrastinating and more time being focused through long-term behaviour changes. To unlock time-wasting websites – like Facebook, Instagram or Reddit – you have to solve Tangram puzzles. Solving puzzles takes time and will make your brain think procrastination is actually hard work. At best, you will close the tab and keep working. At worst, you have "earned" a couple of minutes to procrastinate.

Think you should feel guilty for being lazy? Don't! It's human nature to take the path of least resistance. Any effort requires willpower and energy. That's why you're much more likely to have a bowl of cereal first thing in the morning than – say – putting in the time to make a fruit salad and some eggs.
Blame your genetics. When supermarkets weren't around, food was a sparse resource. We needed to save as much energy as possible just to be able to survive. That's why hard tasks are a turn-off.
Apply this principle to distracting websites. You're clicking on them not only because they're fun, but because it takes very low effort to do so. Just type in the address and go. PuzzleBlocker comes in and gives you a hard task (a puzzle) to complete before you get the reward (surfing the site). With this approach you experience three effects:
- You'll hardwire your brain to think going to Reddit is a hard task. This means you're less likely to do it in the future.
- You exercise your willpower muscle by completing hard tasks.
- You're training your brain by puzzling.
What makes PuzzleBlocker different?
Other focus extensions don't work long term because they completely restrict your access to the site. That's like forbidding a child to have candy. The child will be defiant and crave candy even more now.
In the scope of typical focus extensions: if you completely deny yourself access to "time-wasting", "dopamine feeding" websites (like Facebook, Instagram & Co.) you are just fueling the craving more. inevitably this will lead to you disabling or even uninstalling the extension, giving in to the craving.
You see, you can't trick your brain this easily.
PuzzleBlocker uses a different approach. You are never fully restricted access, you are just required to put in the work first and get the reward after (a.k.a. delayed gratification).
Other extensions need a schedule, because like we explained above, willpower is a cruel mistress. PuzzleBlocker on the other hand can – and should be – left "always-on" so over time, your cravings for social media and procrastination become smaller and smaller until they eventually fade away .
This app helped me spend less time on YouTube, Reddit and Instagram and focus better on school. Especially around final exam season I tend to procrastinate a lot so this helped! Thanks!Nenad ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
My puzzle blocker is working great and I added Quora to it as well. Honestly, I have just been so disgusted with both Facebook and Instagram that I haven’t even been clicking on them that much!Debbie ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
During my work on the computer I often got this habit of switching to youtube or instagram just for a sec, and after half an hour or longer on social media I get back to work, completly lost. So this funny puzzle barier helps me a lot not loosing my focus, because during solving the puzzle I get aware of my automated behaviour of swithcing to social media and I get back in my focusPavle ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
